この作品は8chのスピーカ間で鳴らされる音の定位が作曲の主なイデアの一つとなっている。 実際の作品中では八角形に配置されたスピーカを五角形二つに分け、五角形の全ての経路における音像の移動を試みており、 そこで鳴らされる音源は、スピーカ間のあらゆる移動経路のパターンをごく短い時間の波形に変換して出力しています。 この試みは、波形のデザインという微視的な視点と音像定位などの巨視的な視点を同時に往復しそれら全てが関連しあっている超自然芸術の試みです。なお作品は99.99％アルゴリズミックな手法で作られています。残りの0.01%は「まごころ」です。
The idea behind this composition is the orientation of sound using 8 multichannel surround speakers placed octagonally with two pentagons inside the octagon. The sound is transfered between the five corners(two of which are shared), to each pentagon in a pre-specified order (various combinations of presets/permutations).
The transfered sound creates short wave shapes modelled by that permutation or combination. The transfers between all corners in each pentagon happen simultaneously, they are done as phases are changed.
The phase-change and the pitch of the sound are controlled as time passes. These are elements of the composition.
The design of the wave shape is a micro-point of sound-creation. The control of the sound orientation is a macro-point. This composition will use the interrelationship between these points, creating a hyper-natural sound.
The title NONOJIDE is an image from Japanese character "の". (の pronounces "NO")
The calculation of the permutation combination and the design of the sound source were done with max/msp.
